Peter Leibinger plenary talk: Successful Technology Approach for Lasers in Manufacturing

In "Successful Technology Approach for Lasers in Manufacturing," Peter Leibinger of TRUMPF compares two strategies for developing lasers for manufacturing in the face of increasing availability of varied technologies. One direction focuses on using as few as possible different technologies to address the demands of many applications; alternatively, dedicated laser systems for specific applications based on multiple technologies may be employed.

Leibinger is Head of the Laser Technology and Electronics Division and is responsible for group-wide research and development and for new business fields. In February 2011, Leibinger was awarded an honorary doctorate by the Technical University of Dresden.
