What does SPIE stand for?
The legacy and legal name of the society is the Society of Photo-optical Instrumentation Engineers. Today, the society does business under the name SPIE, which is no longer used as an acronym.

Do I need to be a member to register for a meeting?
You do not need to be a member of SPIE to register for a meeting, but one of the many benefits of individual membership is reduced rates at our conferences. Check out the Membership portion of the SPIE website to find out how easy it is to become a member.

When are books made available?
Approximate publication dates are given in the book lists in the SPIE Web Bookstore.
Is there exhibit space still available?
Is payment required to attend the exhibits?
For most exhibits admission is free, but for SPIE's biannual Optifab meeting in Rochester, New York, there is an admission fee to visit the exhibit hall only.  For further information, visit the Optifab website.
Is registration required to attend the exhibits?
There is a short exhibit registration form required for entry.
Can I submit an abstract?
Check the call for papers for the individual conference for submission information.
Can I take my manuscript on site?
