Video: OCT applications expand as technology matures
The eyes, the heart and lungs, the skin, and even nonmedical applications are the domain of optical coherence tomography.
This SPIE video on the status of optical coherence tomography (OCT) looks at the research environment and important clinical applications, as well as highlighting the progress already made and still to come in OCT.
While some applications have been developing for years, such as using OCT for ophthalmology, there are others that are still in their relatively early stages, both in and outside the medical field. The importance of continued research and funding are emphasized by experts in the field, in order to keep up with the pace of discoveries and developments.
Speakers in the video include Jim Fujimoto (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), researcher and entrepreneur Eric Swanson, Melissa Suter (Massachusetts General Hospital), and Rainer Leitgeb (Medical University of Vienna).
