Characterization of piezoelectricity in 3D-printed hybrid perovskite composites (Invited Paper)

Abstract

Organic-inorganic metal-halide perovskites have gained significant prominence in the fields of photovoltaics, light-emitting devices, and sensors, attributed to their exceptional optical properties and superior semiconductor characteristics. Furthermore, their versatile nature has recently unveiled a new dimension of functionality - piezoelectricity. This intriguing property allows these materials to convert mechanical deformation into an electrical response and vice versa, presenting promising opportunities in diverse applications such as miniaturized self-powered sensors and energy harvesting systems.

Tsung Sheng Kao

Dr. Tsung Sheng Kao received his Ph.D. at the Optoelectronics Research Centre, University of Southampton, United Kingdom 2012. After completing his doctorate, Dr. Kao served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the National University of Singapore from 2012 to 2014. From 2014 to 2016, he joined the Department of Photonics at National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan, as an Assistant Researcher. Subsequently, Dr. Kao served as an Assistant Professor and Associate Professor in the Department of Photonics at National Yang-Ming Chiao Tung University in 2016 and 2022, respectively. Dr. Kao's research focuses primarily on plasmonic metamaterials and their versatile applications. His expertise spans various areas, including the development of color-tunable light-emitting and lasing meta-devices utilizing perovskites, and advancements in controlling deep subwavelength light localizations for super-resolution nanoscopy.
