Lab Tours to Univ. of Rochester Institute of Optics
8 June 2023 • 1:50 PM - 4:00 PM EDT
The Institute of Optics and allied departments (Chemistry & ECE) at the University of Rochester are pleased to host a visit to the River Campus for a reception and an opportunity to visit laboratories devoted to quantum optical materials, laser science and laser-materials interactions, TeraHertz technology, integrated photonics for quantum sensing and quantum sources, quantum optomechanics, and a laboratory designed for undergraduate instruction in quantum optics. The lab tour groups will gather in the Munnerlyn Atrium of Goergen Hall at 1:50 pm.
The Institute of Optics, founded in 1929 was the first institution in the United States to be established for the purpose of studying the nature and applications of light and light-based technologies. It is both an academic and a research institute, offering BS, MS and PhD degrees in optics and optical engineering. The faculty (20 tenure track, 2 instructional, 8 secondary, and 10 adjuncts) research specialties and expertise range from optical design and engineering, optical materials, medical optics with special emphasis on vision, physical optics, laser science and engineering, integrated photonics, and metamaterials.
