Last November, 2012 the Kent State University SPIE student chapter organized a joint chapter activity with Indiana University of Pennsylvania. The chapter members learned many new ideas from the visiting chapter's advisor, Dr. Andrew F. Zhou. He told them about his rich academic career, and how to succeed in academic life. Both of the chapters discussed their current outreach activities. The hosting chapter showcased their facilities and equipment available in their department. Everyone was able to participate in Liquid Crystal Day, the student poster competition and had the chance to meet local North-East Ohio industry representatives.
Even though the joint event was very valuable and productive for both chapters the day was too short for everyone. Kent State hopes to visit Indian University of Pennsylvania in the future and possiby start some successful joint outreach activities.
Thank you Kent State and Indiana for sharing info and photos from your joint chapter acitivity! Check out more of their events and activities on their chapter website http://dept.kent.edu/spie
