Profile Summary

Professor Tae-Yeon Seong received D.Phil. in Materials Science from the University of Oxford in March 1992. In 1994, he joined Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST). In 2005, he moved to the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Korea University, where he served as Department Chair and Director for Brain Korea 21 Centre for Advanced Device Materials (2011-2016). He has served as Department Chair of Nanophotonics since 2010. He also served as Associate Dean for Research, College of Engineering, Korea University (2014-2015). He was president of Korea Society of Optoelectronics in 2014. His current research philosophy is focused on innovations in developing efficient device processing technologies and transparent electrodes that bring new functionality to optoelectronic devices, such as LEDs and OLEDs, optical sensors and neuromorphic devices. He is a fellow of MRS, ECS, SPIE, the Institute of Physics (UK). Currently, he is Editor of IEEE Electron Device Letters and Editorial board member of Semiconductor Science and Technology.
