Profile Summary

In my graduate work, I gained valuable experience in solid state physics, nanoscience, and material science. My thesis work was directed upon the elastic properties of silicon carbide nanoparticles and the characterization/control of defects in the crystal structure. I completed this work using synchrotron x-ray diffraction and high pressure diamond anvil cells.

Since beginning starting my postdoctoral studies, I have transitioned to quantitative applications of fluorescence in the biological realm. Specifically, I have worked in single molecule fluorescence techniques such as fluorescence correlation spectroscopy.
