He has BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, and a Ph.D. in Atmospheric and Space Sciences from the University of Michigan. For a number of years, Brian has been involved in developing aircraft and satellite remote sensing systems and investigating new ways to apply these technologies to environmental monitoring and research. His current research interest is in the application of big data analytics to Earth observations and models to investigating the pace and pattern of environmental change. He is also the Principal Investigator for Earth Lab’s Project Permafrost.
