Endoscopy

Endoscopy involves looking inside the body or other areas that are otherwise inaccessible using fiber optics, fiberscope, or other light sources, along with an electronic imaging device so the physician can see inside the patient. Endoscopes are used to image human organs in vivo, such as the gastro-intestinal and respiratory tracts. They can also be used in precise surgery in delicate, tight areas of the body, often called key-hole surgery. Endoscopes need to be narrow, flexible, with powerful electronic imaging capabilities, and contain a light source that will not damage the soft tissue it is documenting. Endoscopes can be controlled using remote, wireless communication.
