    Eli Peli recognized for vision rehabilitation work

    SPIE Fellow Eli Peli (Schepens Eye Research Institute), this year's winner of the Otto Schade Prize, has won the 2010 Edwin H. Land Medal. The awards honor his pioneering research, clinical, and entrepreneurial contributions to vision rehabilitation.Eli Peli

    Peli's innovative work utilizes technologies such as image processing and information display to help patietns with tunnel vision, and modified television displays for people with macular degeneration. In addition to his work at Schepens, he is a professor of Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School.

    Peli serves on the program committee for the Human Vision and Electronic Imaging conference at the SPIE/IS&T Electronic Imaging symposium, has authored 17 proceedings papers, and has published 8 articles in the SPIE journals Optical Engineering and Journal of Biomedical Optics. He is author of three papers to be presented at  SPIE/IS&T Electronic Imaging 2011 in January.
