Paper Abstract

One of the greatest problems concerning sensor guided systems is the cost of the sensor systems. In this paper we give a description of a new idea for a low-cost sensor. This optical system can give information about an obstacle in the field of view (FOV). The easiest kind of this sensor only gives information about the presence of an obstacle in an area of three to four meters in front of the sensor. With this sensor we can supervise a two-dimensional field of several m2 (squaremeters). One of the possible applications of the sensor is the autonomous vehicles and robots.
