Profile Summary

He completed B.S. degree in Physics at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (Spain) in 1992. In 1993 he obtained a grant from the Ministry of Education of Spain to join the Group of Optics of that university and he received the M.S and Ph.D. in Physics in 1993 and 1996 respectively. In 1996 he joined the Department of Optics of University of Valencia. Since 1998 he works at the Department of Materials Science, Optics and Electronics Technology at the University Miguel Hernández in Elche, where he is a full professor of Optics since 2010.

He has been working on a variety of topics related to liquid crystal displays and its applications in diffractive and polarization optics, being coauthor of more than 100 articles published in peer reviewed journals. He has been a guest scientist at various international research centers like the Department of Physics at San Diego State University (USA), the FEMTO Institut at the Université de Franche-Comté (France) and the Departamento de Física at the Universidad de la Frontera (Chile).

Since 2007 he has bee the Director of the PhD Program on Industrial and Communications Technology Engineering at the Polytechnical School in Elche (Spain). From 2005 to 2014 he was the editor of the journal Óptica Pura y Aplicada (OPA), edited by the Spanish Optical Society (SEDOPTICA). Since 2014 he is Associate Editor of Optical Engineering.

He is a member of SEDOPTICA, SPIE and OSA. He was awarded as SPIE Senior Member in 2009, and as OSA Senior Member in 2010, and as SPIE Fellow member in 2014. In 2012 he received the EOS2012 Prize from the European Optical Society.
