Thorsten Mayer

Thorsten Mayer is an accomplished international business leader with a strong technology background. As a National Instruments’ alumnus, he had the opportunity to grow personally and professionally in a range of regional and global leadership positions in sales and marketing, contributing to the transformation of a $300M company into a $1.4B globally recognized market leader and a Best Place to Work. He is adept at managing cross-functional multi-cultural teams in sales, marketing, support, operations and corporate transformation. His talent and experience in business analysis, strategy development and people leadership have been instrumental to his proven track record of driving revenue growth and profitability, selling technical solutions across various industries through direct and indirect sales channels. His organizational leadership experience spans from smaller organizations (20+ people) to large organizations (3000+ people and global scale). He currently serves as Chief Executive Officer for Vanguard Automation, a fast-growing German high-tech company focused on revolutionizing photonic packaging and integration by harnessing 3D nano-print technologies.

Born, reared and educated as engineer in Germany, he has lived and worked in four countries: Germany, France, U.S. and Hungary. Thus, Thorsten offers U.S. Corporate, European and Asian experience, a strong international background to business development and geographical expansion. With 8 yrs. of experience in growing and transforming National Instruments’ Eastern European Sales, Marketing and Support operations, growing revenues 4x in that period of time, he became a true expert at developing markets in that region.

Thorsten is invested in several startups and has volunteered at SWAN Impact Network in Austin, TX, leading due diligence teams and serving as advisor to the network and early stage companies.
