Olivia is currently a senior in the Department of Bioengineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She has researched protocols for creating 3D breast cell cultures under Dr. Rohit Bhargava at the Beckman Institute in Urbana, Illinois, and has interned at bioMerieux, Inc., in Hazelwood, MO under the supervision of Brad Clay. There, she investigated low cost substrates for the Raman spectroscopy of various microorganisms. She presented her findings from bioMerieux, Inc. at SPIE's Photonics West Conference in San Francisco, California, in January 2012.
