Mateusz Mientki

My journey with physics began in primary school, when I received a popular-science book about the Universe and the Solar System. At the beginning I thought my goal would be becoming an astronomy student, so I have made an effort to get into Nicolaus Copernicus University. Despite being a kid from countryside and growing in low-income family, I believed I can make my dreams come true. However during the process of learning physics, I have found myself more attracted to physics rather than to astronomy. Today I am a student of Technical Physics. Recently I started looking for engineering thesis topics and soon I will be choosing between the thesis about ultracold Rydberg molecules and nitrogen vacancy (NV-) color centers in diamonds. I am also implementing a teaching course, so I might teach physics in the future (there is a lack of teachers for this subject in Poland). I am a member of SPIE student chapter since November 2021.
