Dr. Maksudul M. Alam

Eminent, experienced leader, and scientist in chemistry and chemical engineering fields. Comfortable organizing, managing and directing projects and technical staff. Over 28 years of experience in research & development, design and development of polymers and nanomaterials, chemical and biological sensors, biocompatible compounds, bioconjugation, microelectronic biosensors, lab-on-a-chip, sensor array, assay analysis, fabrication and testing of energy storage devices (lithium-ion and fluoride-ion batteries), photoelectrochemical cells, microelectronic and optoelectronic devices (photovoltaic/solar cells, LEDs, photodiodes), coatings/formulations, self-assembly, photochemical and electrochemical investigation, fire and radiation resistant polymers, data analysis, presenting data, preparing grant proposals, writing research reports and articles. I have been working on R&D projects funded by Federal agencies (DOE, NIH, NSF, MDA, DOD, and NASA) under contracts through SBIR/STTR programs for over 12 years. As a principal investigator/project director, I have been awarded over $8.5 million through SBIR/STTR research grants since 2013. I hold nine granted patents including eight US patents and one European patent, and have 5+ pending patent applications. I published 70 peer reviewed research papers and one book chapter, authored over 90 technical research reports, presented over 50 scientific presentations in national and international conferences/meetings, and led over 45 SBIR/STTR projects with DOE, DOD, NASA, NSF, and NIH. I am an active member of notable scientific organizations. I worked as a postdoctoral research associate at three universities and mentored and taught numerous students during that time. Lastly, I am fluent in Japanese and Bengali.
