Profile Summary

Dr V. V. G. Krishna Inavalli is a Microscopist, his research career spans from the generation of structured light beams to the development of cutting-edge super-resolution microscopy techniques for cellular neuroscience.

He obtained a PhD in physics from the University of Hyderabad, India, where he developed a new method to generate structured light beams and studied their applications. During his first postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign (UIUC), USA, he developed novel microscopy techniques to image biological tissues and plasmonic nanofilms and worked on techniques for complex wavefront shaping to image deep in the tissue. For his second postdoc at the Nagerl and Sibarita labs at Interdisciplinary Institute for Neurosciences (IINS), Bordeaux, France, he developed and applied correlative super-resolution microscopy techniques for cellular neuroscience to reveal the molecular and morphological organization and dynamics of living neuronal and mammalian cell cultures. He also developed an adaptive optics 3D STED microscope using spatial light modulators to investigate the interaction between different synaptic partners in brain tissues in combination with SUSHI labelling. Recently, he joined the Center for Cancer Immunology (CCI) at the University of Southampton as the Head of Microscopy in the WardOber lab, where he has been implementing the super-resolution microscopy techniques to apply them for analysis of antibody-based cancer therapeutics
