Profile Summary

Jiajiu Zheng got his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at the University of Washington, Seattle. He received his M.S. in Optical Engineering from Zhejiang University in 2015 and his B.S. in Optoelectronic and Information Engineering from Nanjing University of Science and Technology in 2012. Zheng’s research interests include but are not limited to silicon photonics, optical computing, and nanophotonics. His Ph.D. research focuses on nonvolatile programmable silicon photonics using phase-change materials towards optical FPGAs for applications such as data center, neuromorphic computing, and quantum computing. Previously, Zheng worked on self-electro-optic bistability devices, subwavelength grating-assisted directional coupler devices, novel photonic crystal nanobeam cavities, van der Waals metasurfaces, cavity-enhanced PL, EL, and SHG from 2D materials, on-chip graphene photodetectors, modulators, nonlinearity, and plasmonics, and so on. He is the recipient of the National Scholarship of China (2009-2010) and the OMEx Emerging Researcher Best Paper Prize (2018).
