Gorka Zubia was born in Barakaldo, Spain in 1996. He received the B.Sc. (Hons.) and M.Sc. degrees in telecommunications engineering from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) in 2021. He was awarded the Ikasiker Research Collaboration Fellowship by the Basque Government (Spain). He is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree in photonics at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). He was honored with the Predoctoral Fellowship of the Basque Government to conduct his Ph.D. research within the Applied Photonics Group (APG) Research Group, UPV/EHU. His research interest focuses on the design and manufacture of fiber optic sensors for measuring physical parameters. In recent years he has also used machine and deep learning techniques for Structural Health Monitoring. Since 2023, Gorka is Graduate Teaching Assistant at the Department of Automatic Control and Systems Engineering at the UPV/EHU.
