Profile Summary

Dr. Dong-Wook Han works as an Associate Professor in Department of Optics and Mechatronics Engineering, BK21+ Nano-Integrated Cogno-Mechatronics Engineering, College of Nanoscience & Nanotechnology, Pusan National University, Busan, South Korea. He completed his Ph.D. degree in biomedical engineering from Yonsei University, Seoul, Republic of Korea in 2004. In 2005, he continued his postdoctoral research at the Institute for Frontier Medical Sciences, Kyoto University, Kyoto, Japan. He joined Pusan National University as a Faculty Member in 2008. Until now, he has published over 100 research papers in peer-reviewed journals. His research interests concern complementary integration between BT and NT which are in detail as follows: tissue engineering and regenerative medicine with smart nanobiomaterials, cryopreservation of stem cells and tissues by using antifreeze protein (e.g., poly-L-lysine), fabrication of artificial tissues/organs by 3D bioprinting, development of medical devices, biocompatibility evaluations of scaffolds for tissue engineering and medical devices, and assessment of nanomaterials toxicity (nanotoxicity).
