Profile Summary

Currently, I'm employed as a clinical postdoctoral researcher at the departments of Urology and Biomedical Engineering & Physics of the AMC. I initiate new research that will ultimately result in a minimal invasive optical biopsy tool that allows diagnosis of (epithelial) cancer

From 2007 until 2011, I worked as a Ph.D. student at the department of biomedical engineering & physics (BMEP) at the Academic Medical Center (AMC). My projects revolved around optical coherence tomography (OCT), a new clinical imaging technique that enables minimal invasive optical biopsy. Besides understanding and engineering OCT technology, we partially leaped the gap that existed between new optical clinical imaging technologies and the everyday clinical reality. This resulted in new and successful collaborations between our department and departments such as Urology, Cardiology, Surgery and Radiotherapy within the AMC. Moreover, other Amsterdam based hospitals such as the Dutch Cancer Institute (NKI) and the Vrije Universiteit medical center (VUmc) are involved in our projects as well.
