Dr. Ariadna Calcines Rosario is a Senior Optical Engineer and PhD in Astrophysics.
Her doctoral thesis was awarded "Best PhD Prize in Instrumentation, Computation and Technology Development in Astronomy and Astrophysics of Spain (2013-2014)" by the Spanish Astronomical Society for her design of the integral field spectrographs for the European Solar Telescope (EST). Currently working at the Centre for Advanced Instrumentation (CfAI) of Durham University (UK) and previously at the Institute of Astrophysics of the Canary Islands (IAC, Spain) and the Leibniz-Institute for Astrophysics of Potsdam (AIP, Germany). Sixteen years of optical engineering experience with participation in twenty projects for solar physics, night time astronomy and space (e.g. EST, GREGOR, ELT HARMONI, MOSAIC, VLT CUBES). Main research line is the optical design of integral field spectrographs and image slicers (e.g. EST, GRIS at GREGOR, HR GNIRS at Gemini North, VLT CUBES). Interested in Innovation, Research and Development and Creative Optics.
