Alaina G. Levine is a Contributor to National Geographic, science writer, science and engineering careers consultant, professional speaker and corporate comedian. Her new book on networking strategies for scientists and engineers will be published by Wiley in 2014. As President of Quantum Success Solutions, a career consulting enterprise with a focus on advancing the professional development expertise of scientists and engineers, she has been advising emerging and established scientists and engineers about their careers for over a decade, and has consulted with tens of thousands of early- and mid-career scientific and engineering professionals. The author of over 100 articles pertaining to science, science careers and business in such publications as Science, Nature, Smithsonian, Scientific American, IEEE Spectrum, New Scientist, and COSMOS, Levine is also a Contributor to NatGeo, where she writes and blogs for its website. She also pens the career columns for Physics Today and the American Physical Society's national publication, APS News.
Previously, she directed the Professional Science Master’s in applied science and business programs and taught entrepreneurship to science and engineering graduate students at the University of Arizona (UA). She has given over 500 workshops and seminars in the US and Europe. Levine holds degrees in mathematics and anthropology from the UA, and studied abroad at the American University in Cairo as a DoD National Security Education Program/Boren Fellow. She also has been honored as a Logan Science Journalism Fellow at the Marine Biological Laboratory, a Robert Bosch Stiftung Science Journalism Fellow, among many other honors. Levine is also an award-winning entrepreneur, and was named Tucson Leader of the Year, an honor previously bestowed upon former US Surgeon General Richard Carmona, and a Tucson 40 Under 40 Leader, an honor also bestowed upon former US Rep. Gabrielle Giffords the same year.
