Prototyping a large field-of-view FMCW flash 3D imaging system

Abstract

The lack of efficiency under extreme light conditions of existing 3D depth ranging techniques has oriented research and technology towards interferometry techniques to tackle this issue. The FMCW technique is one of these promising methods. We demonstrate a low power (1mW) miniaturized free space 3D FMCW imaging prototype working in the infrared region (940nm). First results based on this minimized developed system show good quality 3D images of several meters.
