Abstract
We show the performance of our fiber-based 1550 nm FMCW LiDAR prototype with > 200 m long-range operation and sub-cm resolution. The optical engine features dual-polarization carrier-suppressed single-sideband modulation and a new high-quantum-efficiency coherent receiver, which is designed and fabricated using InP technology. We generate point-clouds of several different scenes by 2D mirror scanning and real-time signal processing using an FPGA platform. By analyzing the captured scenes, we explore the system's limitations in terms of range and resolution, and discuss the benefits of the dual-polarization method for various scenarios.
