Laura Waller: Integrating optics and processing in design of imaging systems

Computational imaging takes advantage of the strengths of optics and software in a single system.

Laura Waller is Assistant Professor at University of California, Berkeley, in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences (EECS), with affiliations in Bioengineering, QB3 (California Institute for Quantitative Biosciences), and Applied Sciences & Technology. She heads the Computational Imaging Lab, which develops new methods for optical imaging, with optics and computational algorithms designed simultaneously. She was a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer in physics at Princeton University from 2010-2012 and received BS, MEng, and PhD degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2004, 2005, and 2010, respectively.

Waller is a Moore Foundation Data-Driven Investigator, Bakar Fellow , NSF CAREER awardee and Packard Fellow. She is a member of SPIE and serves on the program committees for SPIE conferences on Computational Imaging, (DSS), Quantitative Phase Imaging (Photonics West), and Adaptive Optics and Wavefront Control for Biological Systems (Photonics West). She is an author of more than 20 papers presented at SPIE events.
