SPIE stands with our Black Members and Black colleagues

03 June 2020

SPIE values include collaboration, inclusivity, and building and supporting communities. We are deeply saddened by the killing of George Floyd and abhor the racism that enables such actions.

SPIE is committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion in all its activities. Hatred, discrimination, and social injustice have no place at SPIE, in science, or in our community.

One of the greatest attributes of science and engineering is the pursuit of viable solutions to problems that impact us all. We work to find answers to challenging problems and apply these to improve the human condition.

Racism is not a problem to be solved with clever engineering or innovative experiments, but that does not mean engineers, scientists, or researchers are not needed at this critical moment. Racism is a problem that requires everyone to act.

SPIE stands with and supports all of our Black Members and Black colleagues. SPIE stands against racism in the workplace and in the world. We all have work to do. We are committed to tackling inequity within our community and beyond.
