Tobin J. Marks plenary: New Materials Strategies for Creating Hybrid Electronic Circuitry

A plenary talk from SPIE Optics + Photonics 2013.

11 September 2013

Tobin J. Marks, Northwestern UniversityTobin J. Marks focuses on the challenging design and realization of new materials for creating unconventional electronic circuitry in his plenary talk, "New Materials Strategies for Creating Hybrid Electronic Circuitry."

Fabrication methodologies to achieve these goals include high-throughput, large-area printing techniques. Marks covers materials design topics such as rationally designed high-mobility p- and n-type organic semiconductors for printed organic CMOS; polycrystalline and amorphous oxide semiconductors for transparent and mechanically flexible electronics; self-assembled and printable high-k nanodielectrics enabling ultra-large capacitance, low leakage, high breakdown fields, minimal trapped interfacial charge, and device radiation hardness; and combining these materials sets to fabricate a variety of high-performance thin-film transistor-based devices.

Tobin J. Marks is a professor of chemistry and materials science at Northwestern University. He is also a member of the U.S., German, and Indian National Academies of Sciences, the NAE, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
