Arseniy Kuznetsov: Building flat optics and lasers with nanoantennas

An interview from SPIE Optics + Photonics 2018.

Dielectric nanoantennas and metasurfaces have recently become a new trend in nanophotonics thanks to their low-loss resonant behaviour based on both electric and magnetic resonant modes. In this interview, Arseniy Kuznetsov of A*STAR discusses active light-emitting devices based on nanoantenna concepts.

Arseniy Kuznetsov is a Senior Scientist, Manager of the Dielectric Nanoantennas Program, and Head of the Advanced Concept and Nanotechnology Department at A*STAR (Singapore). Current activities of his group are devoted to the development of novel nanodevices based on dielectric nanoantennas and metasurfaces.

Kuznetsov graduated from Nizhniy Novgorod State University (Russia) in 2002. He received a PhD in Processes Engineering from University Paris 13 (France) in 2005, and a PhD in Laser Physics from Institute of Applied Physics RAS (Russia) in 2006.

From 2007 to 2011, he worked at the Laser Zentrum Hannover (Germany) as a Humboldt Research Fellow. He joined A*STAR in October 2011.

He is an author of over 50 journal papers and a co-inventor of 10 filed patent applications. He is the recipient of 2016 IET A F Harvey Engineering Research Prize for his pioneering research on optically resonant dielectric nanostructures and dielectric nanoantennas.
