Videos: Paris speakers pay tribute to light
An array of "luminaries" helped to launch the International Year of Light in Paris. These highlight presentations cover the diverse aspects of light.
The opening ceremony of the 2015 International Year of Light (IYL 15) was held at UNESCO headquarters in Paris on 19-20 January.
A program of speakers spoke about light from many angles -- from Nobel Prize-winning research to grass-roots illumination providing light for remote villages at night.
