Staffing Changes in SPIE Student Services

Hello! My name is Meg, and I am the new Student Activities Coordinator at SPIE. I hold a BA in English and German from Western Kentucky University and Universität Regensburg. I also have experience in outdoor leadership, sustainable farming, and event planning. This past summer, I had the opportunity to work with students and professors from the US and Peru collecting black carbon and spectrometer data samples at high altitudes in the Andes as part of the American Climber Science Program. That experience made me realize the importance of getting young scientists and engineers out into field and making connections with each other. So much more can be done by working together. Though our primary focus was climate change research, that same notion goes for all fields of science. Networking is the key to success. I look forward to learning about the exciting research of the student members and am eager to work with the student chapters from around the world. The work that you do inspires me! Please feel free to contact me at meaganh@spie.org.
