Student Chapter Leadership Workshop

OP15 SCLW Photo

SPIE student chapter members and alumni/early career professional facilitators returned to San Diego this month for the 14th annual SPIE Optics + Photonics Student Chapter Leadership Workshop. This event, a highlight of the SPIE student chapter program, brings together chapter leaders from around the world for a full day of networking and leadership training. This year 230 students and facilitators gathered in sunny San Diego on Saturday 8 August for the workshop and many other student events throughout the week.

Back by popular demand as the lead facilitator was SPIE Visiting Lecturer, Jean-luc Doumont, Principae. Doumont discussed leadership and communication across cultures while allowing lots of time for group participation and networking. Once again, early career professionals and student chapter alumni were essential in creating the small group feel in a large room of 230.

Optics + Photonics is always full of other popular student events including, the Professional Development Speaker Series, Optics Outreach Games and the Student Lunch with the Experts. For a more detailed schedule of the Leadership Workshop, other student activities, and photos of the volunteer facilitators check out the SCLW 2015 program.

Join us next year for the 15th Leadership Workshop at Optics + Photonics, 27 August - 1 September 2016! Questions? Contact SPIE Student Services at students@spie.org.
