Tina E. Kidger will present the Michael Kidger Memorial Scholarship to Eric Schiesser during SPIE OPTIFAB in October.
Eric Schiesser, University of Rochester (USA), was awarded the 2015 Michael Kidger Memorial Scholarship. Schiesser is a third-year PhD student in the Institute of Optics under the guidance of Professor Jannick Rolland, Brian J. Thompson Professor of Optical Engineering. His research addresses the advantages of non-axi-symmetric optical elements in optical design. He is currently working on packaging optics within the boundaries of a next generation high-power laser in laser fusion energy experiments. This work is in association with the Laboratory for Laser Energetics.
The Michael Kidger Memorial Scholarship was established in 1998 to honor Michael John Kidger, a well-respected educator, design software developer and member of the optical science and engineering community. This scholarship is awarded to a student engaged in optical design of either imaging or non-imaging systems. For more information click here.
