The next member-only SPIE Webcast will feature Gary Hinkle, president and founder of Auxilium, Inc., on "Essential Skills for Engineering Project Leaders."

The free Webcast will be broadcast live, for members only, at 10 a.m. PST Wednesday, 30 July. It will also be archived for later viewing.

The workshop teaches skills needed by optical engineers who lead technical projects, drive innovation, and influence others. Hinkle will cover the differences between leadership and management and offer tips on developing leadership skills such as how to get assistance from others to get things done. The workshop is intended for early career professionals and will conclude with a question and answer session with Hinkle.

About the Instructor:

photo of Gary Hinkle, president and founder of Auxilium, Inc.Gary Hinkle has held a broad variety of management and staff positions with small, medium, and large companies involved in the development and manufacturing of high-tech products. Among the high-profile projects he has led was the development of a U.S. Army vehicle maintenance system, and he directed the development of numerous 911 systems in the United States.

Before founding Auxilium, a firm that offers product development services and continuing education for technical professionals, Hinkle served as engineering manager for the world's best selling oscilloscope product line at Tektronix. His design and management experience spans the electronics, mechanical and software engineering disciplines, and he frequently consults on R&D management and leadership and technical teambuilding.
