Early Career Professional Advocates

SPIE has been steadily increasing the number of opportunities available to represent your fellow early career professionals. Learn more about getting involved with conference organizing committees and SPIE governance. Your voice matters.

Early Career Professionals in Committees
In 2006, the SPIE Membership Committee called for an investigation into the unique needs of Early Career Professionals. After a number of focus groups at SPIE Optics & Photonics, a dedicated Early Career Professional Sub-Committee was formed to give input on how SPIE could better meet their needs. One of their recommendations was that a permanent sub-committee be formed to give direct input to the Board of Directors. Today, the Future Leaders sub-committee works directly with the Membership Committee and SPIE Leadership on the Board of Directors to help SPIE better address the needs of their demographic.
