Broadband Entangled Photon Sources
Ottawa, Canada – OZ Optics Limited, a world leading supplier of fiber optic products for telecommunication, industrial and medical applications, has produced a broadband entangled photon source utilizing a unique all-fiber design to generate polarization entangled photon pairs. Applications include quantum key distribution, quantum computing, and The instrument operates at room temperature and consumes little power compared to existing entangled photon sources. This makes it ideal for challenging environments such as space-based systems.

The source generates broadband wavelength photons, with a source bandwidth of 80nm, making it a possible single photon source for CWDM systems. The system generates millions of photon pairs per second, with high fidelity and excellent signal to noise levels. Because it does not require special cooling or alignment, the unit is much more compact than existing sources. “We believe that with our source design we have the potential to radically reduce costs at larger volumes, opening new markets for quantum photonic networks,” stated OZ Optics CEO Ömür Sezerman.

Optical Signal Noise Ratio Generator
Ottawa, Canada - OZ Optics Limited, a world leading supplier of fiber optic products for existing and next-generation optical networks, presents an Optical Signal to Noise (OSNR) Generator. The units combines an adjustable ASE source, tunable filter and erbium doped fiber amplifier to perform OSNR measurements on optical networks, including DQPSK based networks. The instrument include GPIB and USB interfaces, to allow remote access and measurement automation. The system works at C-band wavelengths, and provided individual channel selection and testing over the tuning range.

Super Fast Response Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier
Ottawa, Canada - In DWDM transmission systems the adding or dropping of a transmission frequency through an Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier can introduce transient behavior where the signal strength through the amplifier overshoots or undershoots, disrupting data transmission. For conventional EDFAs the transient time period during which over/undershoot occurs is typically about 100 microseconds.

Now OZ Optics Limited, a world leading supplier of fiber optic products for existing and next-generation optical networks, presents an Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA) that features sub-microsecond transient suppression time with less than ±0.3dB overshoot. This is an improvement in transit response time of over two orders of magnitude.

Designed to be use for traditional C-band wavelengths, this Super Fast EDFA amplifies signals within a 3.2nm window, enough to amplify four adjacent channels within in a DWDM transmission system. Fused Fiber Collimators for High Power Applications
Ottawa, Canada – OZ Optics Limited, a world leading supplier of fiber optic products for industrial, medical and telecommunication applications, now offers fiber collimators using fusion splice technology to fuse the fiber end directly onto a collimating lens. This creates a permanent connection with no epoxies in the optical path and no glass/air interfaces between the fiber and the lens. The result is a compact collimator capable of handling extremely high laser powers, in excess of 1kW average power.

Fused fiber collimators can be made using singlemode fibers, polarization maintaining fibers, large mode area fibers, and double clad fibers. Backreflection Meters For Visible and Near Infrared Wavelength Applications
Ottawa, Canada – OZ Optics Limited, a global supplier of fiber optic products for all applications, now offers a new line of backreflection (return loss) meters for optical components. The compact unit features a broadband SLED source for greater stability and sensitivity as well as an optional detector for insertion loss measurement. The device is rugged and has a simple intuitive touch screen interface.

The backreflection meter is available not only for telecommunication wavelengths, but also for 1060nm, 830nm, and 650nm wavelengths, and works with singlemode and polarization maintaining fibers for these wavelengths. This makes them ideal for fiber lasers, sensors, and biomedical applications, such as Optical Coherent Tomography (OCT). This capability is unique to OZ Optics’ backreflection meters.
