FDC Camera Platform
Camera Reshapes Itself for Your Projects
With the new “FDC” camera platform, project expert Kappa optronics presents an answer to every wish for an affordable industrial camera. Remarkable about this solution is its flexibility, not only at the mechanical level, which is obvious even at first glance. This design can take any form the customer needs. The FDC project camera is available as a PCB version and a version with a cubic housing (29 x 29 x 29 mm). It also comes with IP protection and different mounts, as well as with other geometric dimensions. Additional functionalities can be included as requested. The continually expanding sensor portfolio, currently consisting of first-class CMOS and CCD sensors from Sony (e.g. Pregius), ON Semi and e2V, allows optimal customization for customer needs. Sensor cover removal and cooling are also possible. Two outstanding interfaces are immediately selectable: USB3 Vision for single-cable data transfer with bandwidth up to 350 MB/sec, and the GigE Vision industrial interface, as well as further I/Os and triggers. Using standardized data protocols, project cameras can be easily integrated and connected via plug and play to popular software solutions. A software development kit is also available.

HDRadapt: Adaptive Luminance Algorithm for All Live Monitoring Applications
The adaptive Luminance Algorithm masters all lighting situations in real time: dawn, high noon, dusk, night, scenes in parking garages and tunnels, as well as glare and backlighting. No matter how extreme the light is or how extremely it changes, the adaptive control algorithm keeps up and delivers what it promises. With intuition and awareness of our customers’ needs, the Kappa development team created a formulation for all extreme light situations that gets the best from gain and exposure control, luminance and aperture control, color saturation, and edge enhancement, even the interactions between all of them. The gain control works across a wide range, the electronic shutter operates the shortest possible exposure, and the combined external luminance control is precisely selectable. The result: the best image with the most information within a maximum dynamic range of 1:1,000,000 / 120 dB in all conditions. The adaptive algorithm is available for all Kappa camera profiles, consisting of an FPGA and a microcontroller.

Flight Eye: Full HD Camera Series for All Aircraft Applications
Different versions of Kappa’s Flight Eye cameras offer uncompressed SD video, Full HD video via SDI output, or H264-compressed HD streams via Ethernet. Most recently, on-board recording of all video data and smaller sizes have been added. This series consists of fully qualified COTS cameras suited for all applications on aircraft: real-time monitoring, integration into telemetric systems, and for crash recording. Among the most common applications are UAV piloting; flight guidance; taxi aid; cabin, cockpit, cockpit door and cargo surveillance.

Use of IRIG B timecode or Precision Time Protocol (PTP) guarantees time-synchronous recording to sensors in other devices. Every camera model is equipped with integrated optics, offering a panoramic field of view from 17° to 130° FOV depending upon the model version. Available as an option are fully integrated IR lights. The cameras are equipped with CMOS or CCD Full HD sensors. For outdoor applications, sapphire glass, heating, and IP67 protection create ice- and fog-free visibility. Their MIL-STD 704 power supply protects against power fluctuations and surges as well as lightning strike damage. Rugged design, special certification for aviation use, and testing according to RTCA DO-160 and ED-112 standards assure operational reliability in all aspects.
