SPIE Member Jason Wyman receives Air Force Institute of Technology thesis award

SPIE Student Member Capt. Jason Wyman was recently awarded the US Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) Best Light-Based Master's Thesis Award for his work "A Method for Detection and Correction of Stair Mode Across an Optical Phased Array."

Wyman, who received his degree from the Graduate School of Engineering and Management at AFIT, is a member of the AFIT SPIE Student Chapter at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio.

SPIE Fellow Michael Eismann, a senior scientist at the Air Force Research Laboratory and a member of the SPIE Board of Directors, presented the award to Wyman 27 March during the AFIT graduation awards ceremony.

Eismann, at left above, is a member of the SPIE symposium and program committees at SPIE DSS 2014, which takes place 5-9 May in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. He also serves as chair of the conference on Spectral Methodologies and Applications and HOT: High Operating Temperature FPAs.

The AFIT SPIE Student Chapter officers for 2014 are Ryan Dowden, vice-president; Noah Van Zandt, secretary; Matthew Bean, treasurer; Michael Steinbock, public relations; Mark Spencer, membership coordinator; and Milo Hyde, adviser .
