SPIE Fellows Maryellen Giger (University of Chicago) and Xiaochuan Pan (University of Chicago Medical Center), Senior Member David Boas (Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital), and Member Yulei Jiang (University of Chicago Medical Center) were among recipients of the 2015 Distinguished Investigator Award from the Academy of Radiology Research in early December.
Two of the awardees serve as editor-in-chief of SPIE journals: Boas for Neurophotonics, and Giger for the Journal of Medical Imaging.
Boas is Director of the Optical Imaging Core and Lab at the Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging in the Department of Radiology and an associate physicist at Massachusetts General Hospital, and professor of radiology at Harvard Medical School. He will be awarded the 2016 SPIE Britton Chance Biomedical Optics Award at SPIE Photonics West in February.
Giger is the A.N. Pritzker Professor of Radiology and Director of the Imaging Research Institute at the University of Chicago. She was elected this year as 2016 Vice President of SPIE, and will serve as President in 2018.
