SPIE Vice President Toyohiko Yatagai, Director of the Center for Optical Research and Education at Utsunomiya University, was a featured speaker at the Optical Society of Korea (OSK) Summer Meeting 10-12 July in Yeosu .
Yatagai and Andrew Brown, SPIE Senior Director for Global Business Development, also met with OSK leaders to discuss cooperative activities between the two societies.
In his talk, Yatagai proposed a new approach for optical mass storage based on polarization holography. The technical program included conferences on several topics as well as the OSK-OSJ (Optical Society of Japan) Joint Symposium on Space Optics.
OSK was established in 1989 and currently has approximately 3,000 members from various research universities, industries, and government institutes in Korea. OSK has seven divisions: optical science, optical technology, photonics, quantum electronics, optical signal processing, biomedical optics, and display.
