An update from the SPIE CEO Search Committee

09 October 2017

From: The SPIE CEO Search Committee
To: SPIE Membership

The SPIE CEO Search Committee is reporting the following update on the activities related to finding a replacement for our CEO, Eugene Arthurs.

The Committee has interviewed a number of professional executive search firms and has selected Korn Ferry, a global leader in the executive search arena. The team we are working with recently and successfully placed CEO-level positions at both the ACS (American Chemical Society) and the IEEE.

The Korn Ferry team is working closely with the Search Committee as they implement their search and recruitment methodology, which includes key stakeholder interviews and an onsite visit to SPIE headquarters during the annual October Board Meeting. With the intervening holiday season of Thanksgiving through New Year’s the projected search process schedule may extend beyond Eugene’s previously stated official final day.

As a result and with the same dedication he has always extended to SPIE, Eugene has graciously offered to remain on in his current role for an undetermined, brief period of time as is necessary to complete the search and transition process. The Search Committee will continue to provide updates as we progress in our efforts.

Thank you,
The SPIE CEO Search Committee
