Honoring the best

Three presenters tied for first place for the Active Photonic Materials VII Conference Best Student Paper Award. Conference Chairs Ganapathi Subramania (Sandia National Labs), left, and Stavroula Foteinopoulou (The Univ. of New Mexico), right, presented a certificate to Nathaniel Kinsey (Purdue Univ), center, for his paper, "Ultrafast dynamics of Al-doped zinc oxide under optical excitation" (9546-23).
Unable to attend were Zi Jing Wong (Univ of California, Berkeley) for the paper, "Single mode parity-time laser" (9546-35); and P. Duke Anderson (The Univ of Southern California) for the paper, "Improving emission in nanorod arrays using quasi-aperiodic inverse design" (9546-47).
