New Women in Optics Spotlight Series

  • Join us for our new monthly interview with women in the community to learn about their research and hear their advice to other women in the field. Hosted by 2020 Diversity Outreach Award recipient, Jess Wade, this series is part of our efforts to encourage and inspire women to bring their ideas to light.

  • Learn more and register for the next interview in the series.

Women in Optics Planner

  • SPIE compiles and publishes a twelve-month calendar planner that is distributed free of charge in more than 25 countries to 5,000 recipients.

  • Use this form to request your 2020 copy now. You can also use this form to request our Women in Optics Playing Cards celebrating 15 years of the annual planner.

  • There are sponsorship opportunities available to those interested in helping SPIE recognize outstanding women in optical engineering. Email Meg All at mega@spie.org for more information.

Gender Equity Taskforce

  • The Gender Equity Task Force prepared a collection of key findings from the 2016 and 2017 Global Salary Surveys as well as stories from optics and photonics professionals at various stages in their careers and published them in the Gender Equity in the Optics and Photonics Workplace booklet.

  • Read the results of SPIE's 2016 Women in the Optics and Photonics Workplace survey developed by the task force to define and understand gender equality issues in the optics and photonics community.

  • SPIE Member Katie Schwertz, a task force member, interviewed SPIE Senior Member Marisa Edmund to discuss policies and programs at Edmund Optics designed to support women in their workplace. Read the article, Optics businesses can promote gender equity for the January 2017 issue of SPIE Professional.
