Paper Abstract

A technique has been developed for estimating the computational load required for a complex robot and applied to making computational load estimates for a Mars rover. This technique while providing only gross approximations is presently superior to the intuitive approach used traditionally. In addition, it is defensible, traceable and easily modified. Several computational load estimates for various computational functions for the Mars rover are provided.
