Adaptive Color Coding Based On Spatial/Temporal Features

Paper Abstract

The problem of efficient adaptive coding of color images for computer display is investigated. Several modifications of current algorithms are proposed that allow for the introduction of local image characteristics. Spatial, temporal and semantic features of images are used to generate error masks. These masks are used to bias the statistics of a histogram used by a vector quantizer.
