Echographic Signal Processing : A Method Taking Into Account The Medium Geometry

Paper Abstract

A method for the treatment of the R-F signals obtained by contemporary echographic systems is described. The process is able to take into account some geometric characteristics of interfaces of the examined medium during the deconvolution of received echoes. A finer characterization of the tissues, especially by their acoustic impedance, may thus be expected. This paper describes the principles and the implementation of the method, and precises its performances. The ability of the method to process actual echographic signals is illustrated by two examples of application on the eye.
