Paper Abstract

While an enormous amount of infrared techniques have been developed in the past, recent new testing protocols combining aerial infrared surveys, with handheld infrared measurements along with blower door testing, and computational analyses of the optimal solutions to increase building efficiency have provided some surprising results. These new product testing protocols and the results now point the way to suggested changes in the construction of big box buildings, the weatherization of existing commercial buildings, and a methodology for prioritizing optimal solutions based upon the net present value of any efforts for improvement relative to projected energy costs.
