Paper Abstract
Spatial relativity is damaged in sampling process when using coding of multiple description in spatial domain, which
could result in serious distortion during recovery phase in single channel situation. Concept of region of interest (ROI) is
introduced to improve disadvantages in traditional coding in this paper. For multiple description (MD) video coding
applied in two channels, we can establish ROI in source coding and compress two encoded descriptions by H.264
encoder. At decoder, it could improve the quality of single channel recovery image by using codes of ROI and then
satisfy the demand of user quality.
