Examination of propagation process of annular beam in random media

Paper Abstract

Propagation characteristics of an annular beam through random media (high-concentrated scattering media) were examined for detail. In nature, the light propagation in random media is classified broadly into two categories; exponential attenuation by the directly delivered light and moderate attenuation by the scattering light. The authors found that the annular beam had discriminative propagation related to the waveform transformation into the non-diffractive beam by self-focusing of an annular beam between the above two categories. In this study, central core beam and its behavior, which appeared on optical axis when the annular beam propagated in the random media of a certain concentration, were investigated.
